Engineering & Product Development Services

Brighton Cromwell’s value-adding engineering and product development services have saved the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) millions of dollars for parts on U.S weapon systems.

Brighton Cromwell not only delivers these cost savings but also reduces logistics response times (LRT), in part through utilization of the DoD’s Replenish Parts Purchase or Borrow (RPPOB) and via commercial acquisition, to ensure baseline compliance and in support of a new product development (NPD) cycle.

The new product development cycle includes identification and stratification of NPD goal items.

Goal items are identified to:

  • Increase competition.
  • Reduce government/taxpayers’ costs.
  • Increase available sources of supply to mitigate the reduction in the industrial base resulting from sequestration, reduced competitive acquisitions and continued expansion within the largest defense contractor market.
  • Reduce lead time

Efforts to reduce costs, increase competition and support the industrial base are among the prime goals of the various Better Buying Power (BBP–BBPIII) initiatives. Savings are based on quantifiable hard cost savings calculated using cost/cost-driver variances and both historic and forecasted demand quantities.

Engineering services utilized in the NPD cycle and the creation of applicable technical development packages (TDP) include validation of authenticity of the base available drawing and/or revision, utilizing its reverse engineering capability, component and item destructive and stress testing, metallurgical analysis, design engineering, prototype creation and development and quality assurance testing.

Brighton Cromwell also identifies, validates, and performs quality audits with our subcontractors; develops, audits, and reviews Source Approval Request (SAR) packages; and completes cost/benefit analysis based on internally approved outputs from the NPD cycle.

To deliver customer expectations, Brighton Cromwell’s Engineering & Technical Center follows a structured and systematic new product development (NPD) process to deliver products, technical data packages (to MIL-STD-31000), and manufacturing solutions to our customers. We use the NPD strategy as a tool for the engineering and development of new products.

  • DFARS compliant
  • Able to develop technical data packages at level 3 for manufacturing per MIL-STD-31000
  • Vigilant about the qualification and sourcing of suppliers for our proprietary products

Our Engineering & Technical Center in Lutz, FL, handles all product development, design, engineering, and manufacturing and is ISO 9001:2015 certified and compliant with ISO 9001:2015 QMS. A copy of Brighton Cromwell’s Quality Manual (Q0001-2019.1) is available in its entirety upon request.

Our rigorous supplier and manufacturer validation process mandates that all suppliers and manufacturers of Brighton Cromwell, LLC, must:

  • Be ISO 9001:2015 certified or compliant or have a verifiable and equivalent QMS system in place
  • Provide their (suppliers’) QMS registrations
  • Maintain a minimum grade score
  • Compliance with NADCAP and AS9100 processes when required
  • Compliance with MQR-PSD-1 when required

The Brighton Cromwell, LLC, Engineering & Technical Center maintains a quality process that is structured to comply with the conditions set forth in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
